Receiving Salvation Through the Message of the Cross

Man’s so called wisdom sees the things of God as irrational and illogical. One example of this is the salvation of one’s soul through the message of the cross. To the world’s thinking this does not make any sense. The world questions how could a person receive salvation through Jesus dieing on a cross and then rising again?

18  For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God. 19  For it is written, I [God] will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.  20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (1 Corinthians 1:18-20)

The message of Christ crucified on the cross appears to be foolish to the unbeliever because they are using their human mind to try and rationalize it. You can not rationalize the salvation of the cross with your human mind. The believer on the other hand has not received the message of the cross through rationalization or logical thinking but has recognized it as the wisdom and power of God.

For only God can save us from our sins and not some religious ideas that man has put together with his so called rational thinking. God has not consulted in man’s wisdom to come up with a plan to bring man to Him. In fact, God looks on man’s wisdom as meaningless as can be seen in the following verses.

27 but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;  28 and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, [yea] and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:  29  that no flesh should glory before God. (1 Corinthians 1: 27-29)

God tramples and puts to shame what man calls wisdom and strength so that no man can boast or take glory for who man is or what man has done. As foolish as it sounds to man, Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection is the only way to receive salvation. Believe it with your heart and don’t try to rationalize it with your mind. Through the working of the Holy spirit on your heart, your mind will come to know it as the truth.

Do you want Jesus to come into your heart? Do you want that free gift of salvation where you can be assured that should you die today that you will be with God forever. Pray the prayer below and believe it in your heart and you will feel this incredible peace and confidence knowing that you have now received salvation.

Prayer of Salvation

Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I thank you for what you have done for me on the cross. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I ask you to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.

That is it. You have now received the gift of salvation. All of Heaven is rejoicing over your decision today.

Prayer of Relationship

Lord Jesus, I want to know you in a real way and be in a close relationship with you. Put a deep desire in my heart for you and your ways. Reveal yourself to me and teach me your ways.

Jesus has heard your prayer and desires deeply to be in a close relationship with you. One important way He will reveal Himself to you is through His Word, the Bible. There is a great free resource on line where you can read and study the word of God.

    Praise the Eternal, YAH Almighty
Praise His Son, our Saviour King
Hear us in Thy power immortal
    As we humbly worship, sing.

    Glory to our Father, YAHWEH
Glory to His Son who died
That we all, now Spirit begotten
May be reborn, with Him to abide.

By His Grace, our call predestined,
By His Spirit, our choice, His deed,
    Filled to overcome transgression
Of His law, now free indeed.

Come to Him ye called out children
Come let Him your nature sift
    Be obedient, ever faithful
    Eternal life, your promised gift.

When all reborn and in His kingdom
When all from sin and satan free
Then we, your grateful heirs immortal
Will shout Your praise for all eternity.
