Exposing Deception and Discerning Cults

JESUS WARNED ABOUT FALSE PROPHETS AND CULTS

When Jesus taught on the end times, He warned us to beware of false teachers who could gain a large following, thus starting new cults. Jesus twice emphasized that “many” will respond to false leaders (v. 5, 11). False teaching will accelerate (v. 11) as the gospel accelerates (v. 14).

4 Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, “I am the Christ,” and will deceive many…11 Many false prophets will rise up and deceive… Read the rest of the story

Individualism: Good or Bad?

By Jim Barringer

Western culture is highly individualistic in nature, and it is often taken for granted – with little to no explanation why it should be true – that people are the centers of their own universes, and that it is a Very Good Thing ™ for people to have nearly limitless ability to choose their own personalities and shape their own lives. Periodically, this will lead to criticism against the nature of Christianity, because our faith asserts that there is only one solution to what’s wrong with humanity, that certain behaviors are absolutely right and… Read the rest of the story

A Defense for Miracles

By Robert Kiser

If we admit God, must we admit miracle? Indeed, indeed, you have no security against it. That is the bargain. – C.S Lewis

People often reject the Bible because it mentions things like God, judgment and miracles. The problem is that the Bible has been confirmed time and time again to be historically accurate. Not only history confirms the bible, but details in science provide evidence as well. For… Read the rest of the story

You are a soul. You have a body.

I recently came across a quote by C.S. Lewis that has caught my attention, “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.”[1]

Lewis is one of my favorite authors, theologian and apologist. He has a way of taking very deep and theological concepts and bringing them down to a real life level of understanding. In short C.S. Lewis most often makes me think. Lewis is known for his high view of God and displaying the majesty of the Almighty in his writing, perhaps this is what draws me to his work. As I… Read the rest of the story

Unique Design

“Let there be light.”

These are the first words recorded in scripture. The first recorded words of God. The very first creation, and the beginning of the story of the world we live in. From that moment, everything that exists was created, and set into motion everything that was meant to be.

Consider this, however. Before the Lord even began to utter these words, before the story of our existence, and before eternity which God existed in before He created us, He knew us. Not just us as a whole; He knew you. But not just you. He knew you… Read the rest of the story
